Safecasting in Honolulu, Hawaii

Aloha from Hawaii!

Thanks to Pieter for allowing me to use the bGeiger  to take readings around Honolulu. On Saturday July 16th at 11pm, we mounted the bGeiger to my Prius in theparking lot of a Starbucks (see inserted picture), dropped off Pieter at his hotel in Waikiki, then I drove along Waikiki beach, and then onto the freeway heading West to central Oahu, and home.

This map combines Saturday and Sunday.  Then on Sunday, I had to go into the office but on my way in from central Oahu, I drove to the famous “Hitachi” tree at Moanalua Gardens, got about 100 meters away before a Harley Motorcycle rally forced me to turn around (you will see this in a time lapse video I took).  I then headed towards the airport, then turned left along Nimitz Hwy and drove along the Honolulu waterfront, past Aloha Tower, Ala Moana beach park, into Waikiki, past the Prince Hotel, the Ilikai and Hilton Hawaiian Village, through the heart of Waikiki, passing famous Waikiki beach, up and around beautiful Diamondhead, then back towards Waikiki along the Ala Wai Canal, through the Honolulu metro area heading towards the business district, down Bishop St. and then into The Oceanit Center parking garage. You can watch the entire one hour trip in a time lapse video in about 1 minute. Click here.

Hackers on Maui and Honolulu are standing by to support the cause!  Mahalo to Pieter and the crew for the inspiration, and showing us that by working together, everyone can makes a difference.
